Have you had a burning
question keeping you up at night? Well,
now’s the time to find the answer to that question! The Due West Science Fair is looking for
young, eager scientists willing to do a little experimentation and show us
those answers. Again this year, 3rd,
4th & 5th grade students may enter a group project
(two students per group – must be in the same grade level).
Students will be evaluated by
a group of independent judges on three criteria:
Project – Was the scientific process (hypothesis, variables,
conclusion) followed? It doesn’t matter
if your hypothesis is proven wrong. It’s
all in finding if it’s right or wrong that counts.
Project Logbook – Was the
process recorded in a detailed step by step manner?
Board – Is your science fair board neat and all the
necessary data displayed?
– Each student should be able
to give a brief description of his or her experiment and answer the judges’

Due West PTA is a collection of parents and teachers that have the goal of getting families actively involved in our school community. Schools work best when they have parents involved in the entire process of their child’s education. We have many active programs here at Due West Elementary and we always need volunteers. Please look at our list of programs to see where you can join us in making Due West the best school it possibly can be.
The Due West Garden is in need of some sweet volunteers to help organize a club to help with our garden during the school year. We have a wonderful garden that has been managed by Due West staff and parents all summer and would really love to see someone come in a help a group of students tend to the garden twice a month. If you are interested or have any family members (grandmothers/grandfathers/moms or dads) that would be interested please let us know!!!
Our Due West Elementary School Gardens need love during the summer!
Come be part of our Summer Garden Team even if you don’t have a green thumb and don’t know where to start (we’ll help you out with that part!).
Being a Summer Garden Angel Family lets you:
Enjoy the bounty of the gardens, help tend, water, weed, harvest and eat
Have fun with other Due West families — a productive playdate all in one
Learn with your children about our gardens and our plants
Help keep the gardens in shape so they’re healthy, productive and ready for the fall
Please volunteer for one of the weeks to help out … send a response with your contact information and the week that works best for your family.
May 29-June 4

If these dates do not work for you … that is OK, we can find another time/date.
